The first round of the Olympiad of Metropolises was held today


Today, September 6, in four Moscow schools the first round of the Olympiad of Metropolises was held. Lyceum №1560 welcomed experts in informatics, chemists went to school №1329, gymnasium №1514 invited mathematicians and physicists was met in school №2030.

All the participants were offered tasks in two languages: Russian and English. The teams could also ask for the tasks in their native language. For this early in the morning before the round, tasks were translated into the native languages ​​of the participants.

The participants were given from four and a half to five hours to complete the tasks, depending on the subject. The first rounds of chemistry and physics was experimental. Mathematicians solved the tasks in writing and informatics olympiad contestants have designed algorithms to solve problems and implement them in various programming languages. Then the solutions are submitted to testing system that automatically evaluates them on the secret set of tests prepared by the Jury.

In the afternoon, participants of the Olympiad of Metropolises went on the excursions. The second round of the Olympiad will be held tomorrow. For all the participants it will be theoretical.

The Olympiad of Metropolises is held in Moscow from 4 to 9 September. The teams of students from 22 major cities and capitals of the world take part in the competition. The Olympiad of Metropolises is held in four subjects: informatics, mathematics, physics and chemistry. Each team consists of 8 students (2 participants for each subject) and 3 team leaders. The intellectual competitions take place in Moscow schools.
